So if you’ve been following the Facebook page, you know that over at Aramaic Designs that there’s been some experimentation with some new pewter casting equipment, and some rough prototypes based off of a really old design I did by hand a looong time back were put together to play with. There are three of them, and they all read Yeshua (=”Jesus”). However, they’re not perfect, so they were supposed to end up back in the melting pot before I made new molds…

… but I just can’t bring myself to destroy them.

So we’re giving them away instead.

Not a bad compromise. 🙂

So, then the next question was, “How do we determine who gets them?” And I immediately thought, “Wouldn’t it be neat to do three separate contests?”

Yes. Yes it would.

So here we go! You can win a pendant by doing any of the following:

1) Leave a Comment Below

Each comment = 1 entry. Comments, however, must be unique and have something to do with Aramaic. Keep’em short. Keep’em witty. No posting a dozen things in a single comment to ward off the competition. The winner will be picked at random.

2) Answer the Question: “Why is Aramaic Relevant, Today?”

Short essay. 250 words minimum. No more than 1,000 words (please!). Use the form at the bottom of this page to enter. Topics to consider are the language family’s impression upon history, its role in religion be it ancient or modern, as well as its place (and peril) among modern speakers (but don’t limit yourselves to these; be creative). The winner will be judged by yours truly and all entries will be posted on a new section of the AramaicNT.org website that focuses upon raising awareness and interest in Aramaic Studies. (4 entries as of 7/20) This leads us to…

3) Follow the Prompt: “How I Became Interested in Aramaic.”

Share a short story or anecdote about how you became interested in Aramaic. Use the form at the bottom of the page to enter. No length requirements, but make it entertaining, insightful, and inspiring as these will be judged by you. Once all of the entries come in, they will be posted in similar manner to a new section of AramaicNT.org, and a poll will be opened to determine a winner. Use the same form at the bottom to enter as well. (5 entries as of 7/20)

So share this, repost it all over the place, and get your friends to enter!

If you’re diligent (and lucky) you could win all three.

All entries close in the evening of July 20th at midnight. 

(So, technically July 21st at midnight, but some people find that way of looking at it confusing.)
