The Lord’s Prayer in Greek

Listen to the lecture:

As it is found in the New Testament, the Lord's Prayer would be pronounced in Koine Greek as the following:

Matthew:
πάτερ ἡμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς
'pater hêm'ôn ho en 'tüs ûran'üs
Our Father in the Heavens.

ἁγιασθήτω τὸ ὄνομά σου
agias'thêtô to 'hono'ma sû
Hallowed by your name.

ἐλθέτω ἡ βασιλεία σου
el'thetô hê basi'lîa sû
Your kingdom come.

γενηθήτω τὸ θέλημά σου
genê'thêtô 'to 'thelê'ma sû
Your will be done.

ὡς ἐν οὐρανῷ
hôs en ûra'nô
As in heaven.

καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
'ke e'pi 'tês 'gês
So on the Earth.

τὸν ἄρτον ἡμῶν
'ton 'arton hê'môn
Our daily bread . . .
